MANCHESTER PRIDE WEEKEND

Danii Minouge, Texas, DJ Fresh, Heather Peace, Union J, Lucy Spraggan, Atomic Kitten, Alesha Dixon and more parties than we can count? That’s right – Manchester Pride is set to be one hell of a weekend.

We’ve had a wonderful summer of Pride – but it’t not over yet. On 28 August Manchester kicks off the biggest Pride party of the North as tens of thousands of people ascend on Manchester .

On top of 30+ stage acts including Texas, Danii Minouge and Lucy Spraggan, the hugely popular Gaydio Dance Area (set to reach capacity to make sure you get down early) features acts like Hot Since 82, Jodie Harsh, Crazy P Soundsystem as well as our very own Climax resident DJ Kriss Herbert.

We anticipate a very, very hot weekend indeed.

The Parade theme for this year is Devotion and the organisers are encouraging you to show your devotion – be that to your wife, husband, friend, lover or dog. A fitting theme, considering Manchester is a city devoted to embracing and celebrating diversity.

And there’s more still. The Expo will be filled with exhibitors, the LGBT Foundation is putting on a range of events and the entire Manchester Gay Village will be bustling with activity.

But it’s not all entertainment. The culmination of the Big Weekend is the George House Trust Candlelit Vigil at Sackville Gardens where the area is turned into a sea of lights and a minute of silence is held for those who have lost their lives to HIV. Manchester Pride calls this a truly magical moment and the spiritual heart of the Manchester Pride festival so do make sure you take this beautiful opportunity for a moment of reflection.

The whole event goes on from Friday 28 August until Monday 31 August. The Parade and the candle lit vigil are free to attend. Tickets for the Big Weekend can be found here.
